Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide enjoyable, quality training
for increased productivity and personal enrichment.
Training Philosophy
We recognize the specific needs of adults in a learning
environment and strive to meet those needs. Adult students
need to feel comfortable and confident about their ability
to learn new skills. We create a learning climate that
makes our students' experience at New Horizons productive,
lasting and enjoyable. New Horizons training philosophy
includes:
- Relevancy
- Adult learners are more goal-oriented, and relevancy
to work-related tasks is imperative. By using examples
from the realm of work experience, students are not
only shown how to do something, but why they would do
it.
- Security
- Our classes are conducted in a warm and friendly
atmosphere, and our Instructors take into account any
special needs a student may have. Instructors maintain
a positive learning environment.
- A Feeling of Belonging
- Each class member is treated as we would like to
be treated ourselves as a professional colleague and
valuable member of the classroom team. Instructors encourage
interaction among students, the sharing of information
and problem solving.
- Autonomy
- Responsibility for topics covered in a class is
shared with class participants. By establishing common
expectations and learning objectives, students involve
themselves in the training process.

and Southwest Washington is one of the original New
Horizons franchises. Since 1982,
New Horizons Computer Learning Centers has grown
to become the largest independent IT training company
worldwide.
- Microsoft Gold Certified Partner
- 2006 Microsoft Gold Certified Partners represent the highest
level of competence and expertise with
Microsoft technologies, and have the closest
working relationship with Microsoft.
- Licensed Career School
- The Career Center at New Horizons is licensed by
the State of Oregon as a career school, and we are fully
accredited through
Western
Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting
Commission for Schools since 2003.
- Chambers of Commerce
- We are members of the following Chambers of Commerce:
Beaverton,
Hillsboro,
Lake Oswego,
North Clackamas,
Salem,
Tigard, and
Vancouver. We are also members of the
Portland Business Alliance.
- OPB Business Partner
- In 2005, New Horizons was recognized for 5 years

- As published in the Business Journal in April,
2004.
- Oregon Quality Award
- In December of 1999, New Horizons Computer
Learning Centers was awarded the Certificate of Quality Commitment by
the Oregon Quality Award. As one of only ten organizations
honored state-wide, New Horizons was recognized for
internal systems of tracking and continuous improvement,
as well as the high quality of service our customers
receive.
- The Business Journal's Fastest Growing Companies
- In 1996 and 1999, New Horizons Computer Learning
Centers was recognized by The Business Journal as
one of the Fastest-Growing Private Companies.
Additionally, in 1995 and 1998, we were recognized
as one of the Fastest-Growing 100 Private Companies.
- Technology Fast 50 Award
- In 1997 and 1998, New Horizons Computer Learning
Centers received awards from Oregon Business
Magazine in recognition of its outstanding revenue
growth over the past five years.
- The Inc. 500
- In 1996 and 1997, New Horizons appeared in Inc.
Magazine's Inc. 500 issue (October). For two consecutive
years Inc. Magazine identified New Horizons Beaverton,
Oregon as one of the fastest-growing privately-held
companies in America—based on the most recent 5-year
period.
- Top 10 Growth Award
- In 1993 and 1994 New Horizons was honored by the
Portland Chamber of Commerce and Oregon Business Magazine
with the Top 10 Growth Award. In 1996, New Horizons
received an honorable mention. The Top Ten Growth Award
was designed by the Portland Chamber to recognize (a)
growth and (b) stability.
